Dear Cassell Families!
Welcome to our Cassell Elementary School Website! We hope you will find the information you're looking for on this page. Cassell Elementary is a special place with warm and friendly teachers, students, parents, and staff! I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to be your principal. I believe in working collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and community partners in order to continue the success at Cassell Elementary. Through this collaboration, I believe we will keep moving our students and school forward.
Our school is committed to creating a safe environment for all students and staff, where positive character counts, and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures. We want our students to work hard individually and as a classroom community to achieve an environment where everyone feels valued, and believes they can be successful.
As parents and educators, we must form a strong partnership to ensure that all of our Cassell Elementary students receive an exceptional education. I encourage you to participate in school activities and special occasions, as well as volunteer if your schedule allows. I look forward to this school year and many school years to come. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (408) 928-7206 ext. or firstname.lastname@example.org
Dr. Sandra Puerta-Sarmiento, Principal
Please join us for food, fun, and a chance to meet your new teacher(s) and classroom before school starts!
On May 14, at the 49ers Museum, the 49ers EDU honored three remarkable recipients of the second annual Dr. Harry Edwards “Follow your Bliss” award in front of their family and colleagues. This year a Cassell Teacher was one of the ‘remarkable’ recipients and we couldn’t be more proud of Mrs. Reeves.
“Some teachers are good teachers and they teach a subject, and better teachers start to teach so they can make learning fun,” said 49ers co-chair John York. “But a great teacher is someone who leads us to learn, and when you are led to learn you stop needing a teacher, and you learn for the rest of your life.”
According to the 49er’s EDU, ‘in 2017 49ers EDU launched the Dr. Harry Edwards “Follow Your Bliss” educator grant for a Bay Area teacher who has shown a commitment to leading the future generation with purpose, passion, dedication and love. Dr. Harry Edwards, a nationally renowned sociologist, civil rights activist, educator, author and longtime 49ers team consultant. The program was expanded this year to three teachers across K-12. Each teacher was presented with a $5,000 stipend to be used for in-classroom materials and resources for the 2019-2020 academic year. In addition, the recipient will be visited by Dr. Edwards and receive mentorship for themselves and their fellow teachers. Dr. Edwards will also have the opportunity to address the students of the recipient as well as a larger population of the student body.’
Mrs. Reeves continues to share her passion for math and science with her students in hopes that they will also find the value in it. On May 23rd, Cassell’s Staff and Student body, were visited by Dr. Edwards. We were all honored for his wise words and positive message of hope and resilience in following your dreams regardless what obstacles may get in your way!!
